India’s Top 100 CBSE/CISCE 90 percent-plus schools

EW-Learningpoint india school academic rankings 2015

These league tables feature the Top 100 CISCE/CBSE schools with the largest batches of students who averaged 90 percent-plus

Last month (july), EducationWorld published the EW-Learningpoint India School Academic Rankings 2015 featuring the country’s Top 100 CISCE and CBSE-affiliated schools based on their average scores in class XII board exams. With the Delhi-based Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) — India’s premier school-leaving (class X and XII) examination boards — illogically and irrationally refusing to make institutional performance data available to the public, we obtained this information with the help of Prashant Bhattacharji, a Hyderabad-based data analyst and promoter of the education website www.thelearningpoint.net. For the past several years, Bhattacharji has extricated and analysed publicly accessible information from the websites of schools and boards, to compile league tables based on institutional (schools) performance in board exams. Some administrators have also voluntarily provided their schools’ data.

This month, the EW-Learningpoint India School Academic Rankings 2015 feature the Top 100 CISCE/CBSE schools with more than 27 (CISCE) and 71 (CBSE) 90 percent-plus performers. These cut-offs are because of space constraints in EducationWorld.

CISCE schools are ranked on the basis of English + Best 3 subjects average, while CBSE schools are ranked according to five subjects averages. Moreover, please note that Learningpoint was able to access the results of only 5,433 (out of 9,000) CBSE schools whose students wrote the class XII exam this year.

“These league tables rank CBSE and CISCE schools with the largest cohorts of 90-plus percenters in the class XII board exam. The tables indicate the total value creation of schools, measured by their capability to prepare large numbers of high performing students. These schools have successfully met the challenge of training large numbers of 90-plus percenters,” says Bhattacharji, an alumnus of IIT-Kharagpur.

For 90 percent-plus averages of CBSE/CISCE schools below these cut-off numbers, please visit thelearningpoint.net.

NB: There might be marginal variations between the actual score and tabulated data for reasons explained on the website.
